A person suspected of shooting another person in Chandler on Wednesday afternoon got away and later turned themselves in at a police station, police said.
Chandler police responded to a call about 4:45 p.m. of a shooting at an apartment complex near Chandler Boulevard and Alma School Road.
Upon arrival, officers found one person who had been shot and immediately transported the victim to a local hospital, said Sgt. Jason A. McClimans of Chandler police. Police helicopters searched the area and schools were briefly locked down.
The suspect walked into the lobby of the Chandler Police Department at about 5:30 p.m. and surrendered, McClimans said.
Police reported that there were no outstanding suspects and that school lockdowns had been lifted.
The identities of the suspect and the victim were not released.
