A man from Mexico who U.S. Border Patrol was holding in its Tucson facility died on Monday, officials said.

The man was being held in the Tucson Coordination Center processing facility when medical personnel there learned he "was showing symptoms of dehydration" on Sunday, according to a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Monday evening.

The Tucson Fire Department took him to a Tucson hospital, where he died Monday morning, the statement said.

The agency said the man was 30 years old but did not identify him.

"We extend our condolences to his family," the statement said.

The agency gave no further information.
