Two weeks after the intersection of Mount Rose Avenue and Haines Road was closed for road work, more construction is planned this weekend, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Traffic on both roads will be reduced to a single lane at the intersection, PennDOT says. The traffic signal will be on flash mode, and flaggers will control the traffic flow.
The work will start at 2 a.m. Saturday and is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, PennDOT says.
Crews are working to reconstruct Mount Rose Avenue and a section of Haines Road at the intersection.
The road work is part of the I-83 Mount Rose makeover, which remains far behind schedule. Bid at $58.3 million, it involves a nearly full reconfiguration of the interchange to improve safety and ease congestion.
Crews recently opened the new I-83 South exit ramp onto Mount Rose and ended the detour loop to reach the I-83 South on-ramp.
PennDOT and the contractor, Cherry Hill Construction of Jessup, Md., remain locked in a legal dispute over delays on the project.
